Description
Casitas L is a 70 m² residence conceived as a light, open, and serene piece of architecture designed to connect directly with the landscape and tropical climate. The proposal uses a lightweight structure combined with a clean horizontal composition, generous roof overhangs, and transparent enclosures that create a continuous relationship between interior, terrace, and surroundings. Its material language relies on natural finishes and polished-concrete-like surfaces, creating an atmosphere that feels restrained, warm, and contemporary. The flat roof, designed to simulate a concrete slab, reinforces the horizontal character of the volume and gives the project an elegant and contained expression. The foundation is resolved with a slab, providing a clean and solid base for an architecture intended to feel light, open, and fully integrated with the site.

Concept
Casitas L is conceived as a compact inhabitable pavilion in which architecture visually recedes to give prominence to the landscape, light, and tropical atmosphere. The proposal aims for an open and calm living experience where interior and exterior are perceived as one continuous space.
Construction system
The project is resolved through a lightweight structural system supported on a slab foundation, allowing for efficient construction and a clean architectural image. The flat roof reinforces the horizontal quality of the proposal and visually simulates a concrete slab, giving formal solidity without losing compositional lightness.
Strategies
- Lightweight structure for efficient and clean construction
- Flat roof with generous overhangs for shade and climate protection
- Large open surfaces for continuity between interior and exterior
- Natural finishes and polished concrete for a restrained and warm atmosphere
- Horizontal composition that frames the views and reinforces spatial calm
Materiality
The project’s material palette combines neutral tones, polished-concrete-like surfaces, and natural finishes that convey serenity and permanence. This restrained palette allows vegetation, light, and landscape to become the main protagonists while the architecture maintains an elegant, sober, and timeless presence.
