Description

Stable Osahora is a 250 m² equestrian facility located in Dominical, Osa, designed as a functional infrastructure that responds to the needs of horse care and management within a tropical natural environment. The architecture adopts a simple and efficient typology with a large sloped roof that protects the interior spaces while allowing constant ventilation. The project is organized through a longitudinal structure that houses the horse stalls and circulation areas, complemented by open zones that facilitate handling, cleaning, and the daily care of the animals. Its materiality and architectural expression are inspired by traditional rural constructions, using solid walls, steel structure, and generous openings that allow the building to breathe and integrate with the surrounding landscape. The result is an honest, functional architecture well adapted to the climate and equestrian use, where construction simplicity becomes part of its character.

Concept

The project is conceived as a functional and resilient equestrian infrastructure where architecture primarily responds to animal care needs and operational efficiency.

Spatial organization

The main structure organizes the horse stalls and circulation areas beneath a large sloped roof that protects from tropical sun and rain while maintaining open and ventilated spaces.

Relationship with the environment

The building is placed within a dense tropical landscape where its horizontal scale and open character allow it to integrate naturally into the rural environment without competing with the surrounding vegetation.

Materiality

The material palette combines solid walls, steel structure, and a lightweight roof, creating a robust and low-maintenance architecture suitable for intensive rural use.

Strategies

  • Large sloped roof for climatic protection
  • Natural cross ventilation for animal welfare
  • Linear organization of stalls for easier management
  • Open spaces allowing natural lighting
  • Durable materials adapted to rural use
